Commentary on the Four Gospels

This new translation is the complete homilies of St. Ephrem the Syrian on the Gospels.

What makes this book unique is that St. Ephrem uses an early symphony of the Gospels, assumed to be the Diatessaron, by Tatian. This version of the Gospel text was the only one in use during St. Ephrem’s time in Syria, which began to use the separate Gospels only shortly after his life. Apart from St. Ephrem’s usual manner of interpretation, there are also many small differences in this ancient Gospel collection, which are retained in the translation.
