And the disciples of John and the Pharisees were fasting, and they come and say to him: “Why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?” And Jesus saith to them: “Are the sons of the bridal chamber able to fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they are not able to fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days. And no one seweth a patch of unfulled1 cloth onto an old garment; if otherwise, the new taketh away its part from the old, and a worse tear becometh. And no one poureth new wine into old wineskins; if otherwise, the new wine bursteth the skins, and the wine is spilled, and the skins perish. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
